I am the daughter of Janice Melton Stroud, and the grand-daugther of Ernest Henry Melton. This website is great!
The Melton Cemetery web page is great. My grandparents were William (Bud) Jefferson Melton and Iva Pearl Howell/Melton. I am William James (Jimmie)Melton now 58 years old, and I still can remember the first graveyard working as a youngster, where we enjoyed great pot lucks or picnic style feeds after racking leaves and cleaning the Melton Cemetery. I can remember a mule drawn wagon from which a preacher gave a pre-lunch prayer.
I was looking for some of my ancestors from Mississippi. My great grand parents are James Columbus Howell and Artamesia Caroline Miley. They moved to Arkansas around 1931. But most of their years were in the Mayton, Mississippi area. Thanks for any info you can send.
Hi! Glad to find your site. Trying to find out more about my grandfather, Robert Lee Melton. I believe he lived in Calhoun County, MS. Thanks!
I have info on Adella Franklin RILEY McEnvale (married 2nd to John T. McEnvale). She was the mother of George W. Riley and John Travis Riley
buried in Melton Cemetery. She was first married to William Churchwell Riley in Butler County, Alabama, and they moved from there to Louisiana in the 1870s.
I’d like to share/exchange with anyone who researches this family.
Thanks for publishing this web site.
This is the guestbook for 06. Due to spambots atacking it the o7 guestbook is located on another post here.
I am looking for the Eliza Bradshaw, that was married to Clay McLaney, son of James McLaney and Margaret Mariah Melton. I found this on your genealogy part of this cemetery. I am trying to find out about her.
thanks.
I am trying to trace my family line but no luck so far. My grandfathers name is Billy Dawn Melton. I don’t know his fathers name. The only thing I do know is that he had like 13 brothers…all passed on.

I was born DEC.12,1952 to Donald Calvin Melton and Mildred Marie Carnes in Twin Falls Idaho. I do not have any information other than the information on my birth certificate that list Donald as 21 years of age in 1952 and married to Mildred Marie Carnes. I have no other information and would like to know if anyone has any information on my biological father.
I am looking for information about my Great Grandfather. His name was Jodie Archie Melton. I am not certain where he was born, but probably it was Georgia or Alabama. He lived in Cullman, Alabama part of his life. I am told he died when he was hit by a train in Atlanta. All of this information is questionable, but it is all I have to go on. I know he married Fannie Watts and they had two daughters. I have his date of death as January 9, 1908. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might know information about him.
Is it possible that my great/great grandfather John Melton is a ralative of yours. He was born in Chester,South Carolina and this is where he married and made his family. If we are the same family line I would be very delighted to know, because my grandfather(RICHARD), recently died and I am trying to retrace my past. BUT IF YOUR FAMILY IS NOT FROM SOUTH CAROLINA, I AM AFRAID THAT WE MAY MAY BE CHASING A GHOST.
Bless your dear heart for all your hard work! I don\’t know if we are related or not, but my dad was named Leslie Artie Melton from Xenia, ILL. He died at age 52 and is buried in Montgomery ILL at the Aurora Township Cemetery –near Aurora, ILL–in the year 1940. I was 2 years old at the time and my brother Robert Earl Melton was 6 months old. Our mothers maiden name was Mary Aline Rudder from Clay City, ILL. We have a close relative named Ruby Melton in Salem, Ill. She is in her 90s I believe. She knows a lot about the Meltons. I better go for now. If you have ways that I can be of assistance, please let me know. I have an 800 phone number which is 1-800-397-8552. God bless you!
